The present owners were asked their thoughts on Living at 37 Palmer Street, Aro Valley. I loved their response so much I present it to you without embellishment or editing:
.
We loved 37 Palmer Street on first sight, despite it being rented back then and in a rather scruffy state. The layout reminded us of nice Victorian houses in the UK while the high ceilings gave the feeling of space. We took on a significant renovation - our first ever. We met some great people during this project, picked up some new skills and it was a great feeling of satisfaction to successfully complete the project and move in. Perhaps a yearning now to tackle another one!
Previously we lived at the top of Aro Valley and already appreciated the friendly people and 'village feel' of this area. But moving to Palmer Street from Holloway Road (the dark side!), we noticed how much brighter and warmer it was than Holloway Road.
For us 37 Palmer Street has been a little oasis in the city. A warm and safe base in which to relax and plan the next big adventure!
Highlights of 37 Palmer Street for us are:
•Location - still in Aro Valley but incredible convenience for walking or cycling into CBD or Cuba St etc.
•Character, solid construction and Victorian features of the house.
•Section is sunny but sheltered from the wind.
•Cafés and shops of Aro Valley and upper Cuba street a short stroll away
•The car sees little use except on weekend trips away!
•No-exit street means little traffic noise
•Friendly neighbours and a safe-feeling area.
